Graduate

Why did you choose to do a graduate scheme with Alliance Medical?

During my experience as a student, I was able to gain clinical experience in a range of modalities. This helped me to find out more about the aspects of radiography which I enjoyed and also the challenges. Through this, I had discovered that I enjoyed my experience in MRI and was interested in possibly specialising in the modality after graduating. Therefore when there was an opportunity for a Graduate MRI position with Alliance with the possibility of learning more about MRI and training on the job, I thought it would be a great place to start.

Tell us about your journey with Alliance Medical – where did you start, where are you now?

My experience with Alliance has been enjoyable. When I started I had a bit of knowledge about MRI from my studies at university and some experience from placement. My MRI team gave me a warm welcome and kindly trained me on how to effectively perform scans and also gave me a more in depth understanding on the workings of MRI and also patient pathways and care.

I was able to build on my knowledge of anatomy, health and safety in MRI, patient positioning techniques, patient communication, the physics of how MRI (and the scanner) works and much more.

How has Alliance Medical supported you throughout your career so far?

I feel like I have received plenty of support from Alliance in terms of study materials and content, books to learn from and the ability to ask for additional help and support when I needed it from my manager. I was also able to go on a cannulation course; and with the aid of my colleagues’ help and training, I can now comfortably cannulate patients. My colleagues are always available to assist and advise me whenever I need them.

Do you have the opportunity to move in different directions within Alliance Medical or gain experience in a range of areas?

Yes, I currently work at a static site in Marylebone, London which has different departments based on their scanning modality. Therefore I have access of being able to gain more experience in a different area of radiography if I required.

What values do Alliance Medical have that you appreciate?

I have learnt that Alliance Medical prioritise the quality of patient care and satisfaction which as a healthcare worker I can appreciate. I believe joining Alliance Medical is a good stepping stone for radiographers to gain further knowledge and experience in their field and also allows for opportunity to specialise in different types of scanning.
